In this best shower filters for hair review, we analysed feedback from 300 real customers across Hello Klean, Picki Niki and Curo Skin to see what people actually noticed after using them.
The results were pretty clear.
How we reviewed the best shower filters for hair
Most shower-filter reviews are based on product claims, star ratings or one person’s experience.
As hard-water specialists — and owners of a plumbing company in a hard water area — we know that everyone’s water, shower setup, hair and skin are different. What feels transformative in one home might be far less noticeable in another.
So for this guide, we analysed 300 real customer reviews — 100 each for Hello Klean, Picki Niki and Curo Skin.
No cherry-picking. We looked at the good, the bad and everything in between, including hair, skin, pressure, shower feel and visible limescale.
Because one review can be useful.
One hundred reviews per product starts to reveal the pattern.
That gave us a much clearer picture of which shower filters genuinely performed best for hair — and why.

#1 Hello Klean Shower Head 2.0 — Best shower filter for hair overall
If hair is the main reason you're shopping for a shower filter, Hello Klean is the one we'd choose first.
We analysed 100 real Hello Klean customer reviews and 50 people reported an improvement to their hair after using the Shower Head 2.0.
That was comfortably the strongest hair result of the three filters.
And people weren't simply saying their hair felt “better”.
Reviewers repeatedly described things like:
softer, smoother hair
less dryness
less frizz
improved shine
hair feeling easier to manage
healthier-feeling hair
Some of the individual results were pretty striking too — from less hair fall and breakage to curls coming back, colour lasting longer and hair finally feeling properly clean again.
How much does Hello Klean cost?
Hello Klean recommends replacing the filter around every three months with normal use, although larger households or showers used several times a day may get through filters more quickly.
There are currently two main ways to buy it:
Smart refill plan: ÂŁ60 upfront, followed by ÂŁ36 every three months. That works out at ÂŁ168 in the first year.
One-year starter kit: ÂŁ145 for the shower head and a year's supply of filters.
On the refill plan, the ongoing cost works out at around ÂŁ12 a month.
That's not insignificant, but if your hair is something you struggle with every day and you do notice a meaningful difference, it may feel worth paying.
Our Hello Klean verdict
Choose Hello Klean if hair is your priority.
It had the strongest hair feedback in our analysis by a clear margin, with half of the customers we analysed reporting an improvement.
#2 Picki Niki — Best for hair + shower pressure
Picki Niki was one of the more interesting results in our review analysis.
Across 100 customer reviews, 37 people reported an improvement to their hair. That puts it second for hair, ahead of Curo Skin's 36.
But Picki Niki earns its place here for another reason too.
The pressure feedback was particularly strong
Across the same 100 reviews, 36 customers positively mentioned the shower pressure or spray.

That's a noticeable difference.
The shower head isn't increasing the water pressure coming into your home. Instead, its 200 micro-hole spray plate concentrates the flow into finer jets, creating a stronger-feeling spray.
And judging by the review feedback, customers notice it.
So if you're interested in a shower filter for your hair and would also like a stronger shower pressure feel, Picki Niki has particularly reassuring feedback.
What about limescale?
Picki Niki also had the highest number of customers in our analysis reporting less visible scale.

A shower filter doesn't soften water by removing the calcium and magnesium responsible for hardness, so Picki Niki isn't going to give you genuinely soft water.
But nine customers noticing less visible scale is still an interesting signal — particularly if you live in a hard water area.
How much does Picki Niki cost?
Picki Niki cost ÂŁ89 upfront and then structures its filter bundles around how heavily the shower is used, rather than simply assuming every household needs the same replacement schedule.
Current annual costs work out at roughly:
One shower a day: around ÂŁ115 a year
Two to three showers a day: around ÂŁ150 a year
Four or more showers a day: around ÂŁ230 a year
For one person or a smaller household, that works out cheaper than both Hello Klean and Curo.
A busier household will naturally get through filters more quickly. That's true of any filtered shower head, but we like that Picki Niki makes the relationship between usage and replacement costs particularly clear.
Picki Niki verdict
Choose Picki Niki if you want strong hair feedback but shower pressure matters just as much.
Its hair result was good, while its pressure feedback was comfortably the strongest of the three.
#3 Curo Skin — Best for hair + sensitive skin
Across the 100 Curo Skin reviews we analysed, 36 customers reported an improvement to their hair.
That's only one fewer than Picki Niki, so purely on hair feedback there's very little between them.
Where Curo Skin really shines: skin and skin conditions
In our analysis:
39 in 100 reported better skin
8 reviewers specifically mentioned eczema, psoriasis or dermatitis
all eight of those reviewers reported some improvement
That's why we rate Curo as the best shower filter for eczema and sensitive skin.
So if your hair is only part of the problem — and dry, irritated or sensitive skin is bothering you too — Curo starts to look like the better fit.
How much does Curo Skin cost?
Like Hello Klean, Curo recommends replacing the filter at around three-month intervals, although heavier use may mean changing it sooner.
There are currently two main options:
Subscription: ÂŁ60 upfront, followed by ÂŁ34 every three months. That's ÂŁ162 in the first year.
Annual package: ÂŁ140 for the shower head and a year's supply of filters.
On the subscription, ongoing filter replacements work out at just over ÂŁ11 a month.
Curo Skin verdict
Choose Curo if you’re tackling hair and sensitive skin at the same time.
It performed well for hair, but skin is where it really stands out.
Can a shower filter really help your hair?
Yes.
A good shower filter can help by reducing chlorine and cutting down some of the mineral build-up that can cling to your hair after repeated washing.
That build-up can leave hair feeling dry, rough, dull or harder to manage — and it can also get in the way of conditioners and treatments doing their job properly.
So if your hair never quite feels as soft as it should after washing, your shower water could genuinely be part of the problem.
And that’s exactly what came through in the reviews. Across all three filters, people repeatedly mentioned softer hair, less frizz, less dryness and hair feeling easier to manage.
There is one thing worth knowing though: a shower filter isn’t a water softener.
It won’t remove all the calcium and magnesium that make your water hard, so it won’t magically make your shower limescale-free.
Think of it more as making your shower water kinder to your hair, rather than turning hard water into soft water.
Are there cheaper shower filters available?
Yes — loads.
You’ll find plenty of shower filters online for £20–£40, and some may do a perfectly decent job.
The problem is, they can be a bit of a mixed bag. It’s often harder to know what’s actually inside the filter, how long it will last, whether it’s built for long-term use and whether people are consistently noticing a difference to their hair.
