Is Hello Klean’s new Shower Head+ worth it?

Hello Klean’s Shower Head+ is the brand’s newer, smarter, more premium shower head. It has built-in filter tracking, a temperature alert, app connection, brushed metal finishes and a refill reminder light.

It also costs more — usually around £30–£40 more than the standard Hello Klean Shower Head 2.0, depending on current pricing and offers.

On paper, the Shower Head+ sounds like the obvious upgrade. It looks sleeker, promises smarter filter tracking, scale control and advanced filtration.

But is it actually better for your hair and skin — or is it mainly a smarter version of the same filter?

That’s the question I wanted to answer, so I asked Hello Klean directly.

Here’s what I found.

Quick answer: is the Hello Klean Shower Head+ worth it?

There are two clear answers here: Yes and No. Confusing? A little — but hear me out.

Yes: if you want smart filter tracking, refill alerts, a 42°C temperature warning, a more premium finish and you’re an iPhone user who will actually use the app.

No: if you’re an Android user, or if you’re mainly upgrading for the promoted scale control or advanced filtration benefits.

That’s because the app only works on iOS and the Shower Head+ does not give you better water quality than the cheaper Shower Head 2.0 (confirmed by brand).

Hello Klean Shower Head+ vs Shower Head 2.0

Here’s a quick side-by-side look at what’s actually different between the Shower Head+ and Shower Head 2.0.

Is the Hello Klean Shower Head+ worth the extra money?

It depends what you’re paying for.

If you’re paying extra because you think the Shower Head+ filters hard water better than the Shower Head 2.0, then no — it’s not worth it.

We asked Hello Klean directly, and they confirmed both models use the same refill filter and therefore should provide the same water quality. So despite the Shower Head+ marketing around scale control, it uses the same filter technology as the cheaper Shower Head 2.0.

So what does the extra money buy you? Smart filter tracking, refill alerts, a 42°C temperature warning, iOS app connection and a more premium finish.

If filtration is your priority, buy the Shower Head 2.0. If smart features are the appeal — and you’re an iPhone user who will actually use the app — the Shower Head+ makes more sense.

Both Hello Klean shower heads use the same refill filter, so the skin and hair results should be the same. With the Shower Head+, you’re paying extra for the smart features, not better filtration.

What does the Shower Head+ do that the 2.0 doesn’t?

The real upgrades are the smart features.

HydroTrack™ Technology tracks real water usage, so the shower head can estimate filter life based on how much water has actually passed through it. That’s more useful than a generic “change the filter every 3 months” reminder, especially if several people use the same shower.

It also makes filter changes less of a guessing game. Change the filter too early and you waste money. Leave it too long and you may not be getting the best performance from it. A real-use reminder helps you hit that sweet spot.

The SmartRefill™ Light then tells you when the filter needs replacing, so you’re not relying on memory or a random note in your calendar.

The SmartHeat™ Light alerts at 42°C. It does not control the temperature, but it gives you a useful nudge if your shower is getting very hot — especially if you’re trying to be gentler on your hair, scalp or skin.

The Shower Head+ also connects to the Hello Klean app, but only on iOS at the moment. If you’re an iPhone user and you like tracking things, that makes the product feel smarter and easier to manage.

If you’re on Android, I wouldn’t count the app as part of the upgrade. The extra cost has to be justified by the refill light, temperature alert and premium finish instead.

Who should buy the Hello Klean Shower Head+?

The Shower Head+ makes most sense if you already like the idea of Hello Klean and want the most polished version of the product.

It’s a good fit if you often forget when to change filters, like smart-home style products, use an iPhone, care about bathroom finishes, or want a shower head that feels more premium.

If you know you’ll use the refill reminder, app tracking and temperature alert, the extra £30+ feels fairly easy to justify.

Who should buy the Hello Klean Shower Head 2.0 instead?

The Shower Head 2.0 is the better choice if you mainly want the Hello Klean filtration benefits for the lowest upfront cost.

Because it uses the same refill filters as the Shower Head+, you’re not missing out on the core water quality benefits by choosing the cheaper model.

That makes it the sensible option if your priority is scale control, chlorine reduction and metal filtration, rather than smart features.

It’s also the better choice if you use Android and were mainly interested in the app. Since the Hello Klean app is currently iOS-only, Android users won’t get the full smart experience from the Shower Head+.

At around £51 with the WATERUPGRADE15 discount code, the Shower Head 2.0 is a much lower-cost way to try the Hello Klean system.

Final verdict: Shower Head+ or Shower Head 2.0?

From a hard water point of view, the Shower Head+ is not worth paying more for, because both models use the same refill filter and should provide the same water quality.

The Shower Head+ is worth it if you want the smarter experience: HydroTrack filter tracking, light alerts, a temperature warning, a more premium finish and iOS app connection.

So choose the Shower Head 2.0 for best value. Choose the Shower Head+ if you’re an iPhone user and the smart features genuinely matter to you.

Hello Klean Shower Heads FAQs

Does the Hello Klean app work on Android?

No. At the time of writing, Hello Klean says the app connection is currently available for iOS users. If you use Android, you should not buy the Shower Head+ expecting to use the app unless Hello Klean adds Android support.

Will Hello Klean bring out an Android version of the app?

At the moment, Hello Klean hasn’t confirmed an Android version of the Shower Head+ app or shared a release date.

The app is currently only available for iOS devices, so Android users won’t get the full app-connected experience. That doesn’t mean you can’t use the Shower Head+ itself, but it does make the upgrade less appealing if the app tracking was one of the main features you wanted.

Does the Hello Klean Shower Head+ use different filters?

No. Hello Klean confirmed that the Shower Head+ and Shower Head 2.0 use identical, interchangeable refill filters.

Is the Hello Klean Shower Head+ better than the Shower Head 2.0?

It is better if you want smart features, filter tracking, temperature alerts, app connection and a more premium finish. But it is not better in terms of filtration if both models use the same refill filter.

Is the Shower Head+ better for hard water?

Not in terms of the filter media. Both the Shower Head+ and Shower Head 2.0 use CRS Media for scale control, so the Shower Head+ is not the better buy purely for hard water.

Does the Shower Head+ remove chlorine?

Hello Klean says the activated carbon fibre in its 3-stage filter reduces chlorine by up to 98% from first use. However, both the Shower Head+ and Shower Head 2.0 use the same refill filter, so this is not unique to the Shower Head+.

Does the Hello Klean Shower Head+ need batteries?

No. Hello Klean says the Shower Head+ is hydropowered, so it does not need batteries or charging.

Is there a Hello Klean discount code?

You can use the discount code WATERUPGRADE15. At the time of writing, this brings the Shower Head+ down from £96 to £81.60, and the Shower Head 2.0 down from £60 to £51.

Which Hello Klean shower head should I buy?

Buy the Hello Klean Shower Head 2.0 if you want the best value and the same core filtration benefits for less money.

Buy the Hello Klean Shower Head+ if you want the smart features, filter tracking, temperature alert and more premium finish.
