If you live in a hard water area, choosing between Waterdrop vs Water2 gets a bit more complicated.
On paper, both brands sell neat under-sink water filters designed to improve the taste and quality of your tap water. But if your main problem is limescale building up in your kettle, coffee machine or around your sink, neither of their standard inline filters may be the best answer.
Let me break it down quickly.
The Water2 Pod 2.0 and the Waterdrop 10UA-UF are probably the closest comparison if you’re looking at compact under-sink filters. Both are designed to improve drinking water, and both keep natural minerals in the water.
That can be a good thing for taste. But in a hard water home, neither really attempts to tackle limescale build-up caused by those minerals.
So if you’re comparing Waterdrop vs Water2 for hard water, I wouldn’t choose either standard inline filter as the strongest limescale solution.

If you’re comparing Waterdrop vs Water2, the Waterdrop 10UA-UF is probably the closest like-for-like comparison.
Like Water2, it’s a compact under-sink filter designed to improve taste and reduce contaminants while keeping minerals in the water.
The biggest difference is price.
At the time of writing:
Water2 Pod: around £129 upfront + roughly £99/year in filters
Waterdrop 10UA-UF: around £60 upfront + roughly £40/year in filters
So if you simply want better-tasting tap water, the Waterdrop 10UA-UF arguably delivers very similar day-to-day results for noticeably less money.

For standard under-sink filtration, I’d probably lean towards Waterdrop simply because the 10UA-UF is cheaper both upfront and long term, while doing a very similar job.
But for hard water specifically, neither filter is really the strongest answer.
If you want an inline filter that actually targets limescale, the Maverick Mav 02 makes more sense.
And if you want the most complete reduction of limescale minerals in drinking water, Waterdrop’s reverse osmosis range is the clear step up.

Why Waterdrop RO is the stronger hard water option
If hard water is your main frustration, this is where Waterdrop becomes much more compelling.
Its reverse osmosis systems reduce dissolved solids and minerals far more aggressively than standard inline filters, which is why they’re much more effective for things like:
kettle scale
flakes in tea
coffee machine build-up
hard water taste

Waterdrop is better — but only if you choose the right Waterdrop system.
The Waterdrop 10UA-UF is probably the closest direct comparison to Water2. It’s compact, simple and designed to improve everyday tap water. For many homes, especially if taste is the main issue, it could make a lot of sense.
And because it’s significantly cheaper upfront and long term than Water2, I think it offers stronger value overall.
But if your real problem is hard water and limescale, I wouldn’t choose Water2 or the Waterdrop 10UA-UF as the strongest solution.
For that, I’d go one of two ways.
If you want to stay with an inline under-sink filter, look at the Maverick Mav 02, because it’s specifically designed around limescale reduction.
If you want the most complete drinking water solution for hard water, look at Waterdrop’s reverse osmosis range, especially the G Series for under-sink RO or the A2 if you want a countertop system.
